Dr Thomas Whiffen discusses the energy system transition in Upside’s latest podcast

Join geo’s Dr Thom Whiffen, Product Manager for the Hybrid Home, in conversation with Dr Nick Good of Upside as they discuss the energy system transition.

geo and Upside have been working together on the Core4Grid project since 2018 (Upside provide the aggregator technology that connects geo’s Hybrid Homes to additional revenue streams from people like the National Grid, EDF and UK Power Networks). Upside recently approached geo to feature in their new podcast series, discussing the detail behind smarter energy.

Pitched at STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) professionals working in the energy sector, Upside are interviewing key personnel from a series of influential businesses that are helping the UK transition to a cleaner, more decentralised and smarter energy system.

The podcast focuses on how the confluence of technology, regulation and market behaviour is shaping the solutions of the future. Drawing on insights from geo’s experiences, it provides a valuable insight into the practical aspects of the energy transition.

“There is a need in the UK for flexibility in the domestic setting because it’s the 4-7 (pm) period when people come home … that is creating peak demand that is the key area to be addressed.” Dr Thomas Whiffen, Product Manager for the Hybrid Home at geo.

Follow the link below to hear Thom talk through some of the emerging opportunities and challenges that geo are addressing through Hybrid Home technologies, and how these enable an equitable transition to a smarter, greener energy system.
